A special opportunity

Wednesday October 8,2008

This morning I was given a great opportunity to talk about the work of Evangeline Minisries here in CapeTown. I was interviewed on the local Christian Radio Station, CCFM which was started by The Fish Hoek Baptist Church, led by John Thomas. With my background in radio, I noted from my first visit the station located across the street from another arm of the Living Hope Ministries, Living Grace which focuses on the homeless and those who suffer from all kinds of substance abuse. However I never had much of a chance to visit the station because of my own schedule, but also because I belived God gives us opportunities in due time.

Well the due time came and I could talk about our work and also advertise the bags to help the women get more sales. I felt so at home and being at the microphone brought back so many memories of the time I spent at Radio Trinidad so many years ago. I was deeply moved as I answered Lynn Blacls questions and she warmed the studio with a reggae song that I enjoyed. Yes, I wish we had a steelband as well. More people listen to radio than any other medium and I am grateful I had this chance. Daily I am thankful for the work here and for each of you who read this blog, and support me. I would love to hear from you.

Dearest Wendy,
I tried sending an email but it was rejected by your mailbox so I'll post here.
I eagerly read your blog postings and newsletters. It is so good to see the faces of people I have grown to love and admire as they flourish with new confidence in their own abilities and worth. Please give them my love. My prayers are for their continued growth spiritually, physical health, and for success of the business.
I pray for you and the ministry daily. God blesses because of your faithfulness and love for His people.
Pray for me Sunday as I go to Chestnut Grove Bapt. church in Earlysville (Edith Fisher's home church) to share the story of your ministry and of my trip to Fish Hoek. My desire is the people there will catch your vision and become supporters of the ministry.
How is your mother? I pray for her also. I know it is hard for both of you to have the separation. I pray she continues to enjoy good health and mobility.
My family is doing well. I had Leanna with me last week. She is on her fall break from school. It was a joy to have her but tiring too! I'm finding it harder to keep up with the kids, but I'm sure my age has nothing to do with it!!!! Joe and I intend to go north from Earlysville for a few days of vacation and "leaf-turning" sightseeing.
The days are crisp and warm and our nights are getting much cooler. Fall has finally arrived, I think.
Are there lots of whales in the bays? Do you see Jo? Tell her I send my regards. She was such a dear person to take me around. I enjoyed it so much.
I'm trying to find time to return to another of my passions, painting. I hope to do a painting for each of my children as part of their Christmas. Today is the day I've designated to begin. I've not painted in a long time (years) so I hope I have not lost the gift. It is really scary to pick up the brushes after so long a time. So.... I will say so long for now and get to it.

Peace and grace,
Merle
